Success Stories and Testimonials

One of the best measures of BNI’s impact is the success stories of its members. Entrepreneurs often credit BNI for significant boosts to their business. For instance, Renee McBride of Health-Wise, a member of the Breakfast in America chapter, shared how BNI became a lifeline when her marketplace was shrinking due to increased competition. ‘The connections are invaluable in obtaining quality referrals, business training and one-to-one support,’ she noted, adding that despite the pandemic, BNI helped her business survive and even thrive.

Impact on Local Business and the wider community

Beyond individual success, BNI Scotland South, East & Central has a wider impact on the local economy and community. By facilitating structured word-of-mouth marketing, it injects millions of pounds in business into the local economy each year – income that went straight into the accounts of local firms, tradespeople, and service providers.

Leadership, Innovation, and the Road Ahead

The continued success of BNI Edinburgh, East & West Lothian is no accident – it’s driven by dedicated regional leadership and a vision for the future. Executive Directors Colin and Dionne Read, together with a team of Director Consultants & Ambassadors, lead the region with a very hands-on approach.

Under their stewardship, the region maintains high standards for chapter performance, member training, and ethical networking. Looking ahead, expansion is a key theme on their agenda. They are currently forming new groups in areas that show demand. These in-development chapters start as ‘core groups,’ gathering interested business people in the locality and building up to the 20+ members to charter a full chapter.

Conclusion

As BNI Edinburgh, East & West Lothian moves into the future, it remains committed to its founding principle of mutual success. The leadership’s vision is clear: continue growing the BNI community across the region while enriching the member experience. This means more chapters in more communities, more training resources and innovation and above all, more business passed between members.

The goal is to ‘change the way the world does business’ – starting right here in Scotland. With its proven track record of boosting local businesses, a resilient and adaptive networking format and an ever-expanding circle of trust, BNI is well-poised to keep making a positive impact on the economy and to help entrepreneurs for years to come.
